St. John’s Preschool strives to:
Information will be posted on this website FM 103.5 WTOP and on a recorded message at 703-777-1317. x102.
Note: If Loudoun County schools have canceled school because of the weather, St. John's Religious Education sessions are automatically canceled. Reference our Announcements Page. The Preschool Director administers the Preschool program. The Director has an open door policy that encourages parents to come into the Preschool office at any time. Each family is unique and we recognize that parent participation can vary from family to family. Parents are encouraged to come into the classroom to assist with special projects, substitute, read, and become involved in other activities. Parents can also participate by baking for our annual bake sale, cutting out pieces at home for a project to assist the teacher, and helping in other ways that do not involve being in the classroom. Each child has a “Special Day” in lieu of his/her birthday, and if possible, one or both parents are asked to spend part or all of the class period with their child. It is an excellent way to become a part of your child’s total experience in the Preschool. Siblings, grandparents, other relatives and friends are also welcome to come to a child’s Special Day.
The Parent Staff Association includes classroom representatives who act as liaisons for their parents and the Director. The PSA provides support to the Preschool through volunteering, two fundraising activities, special projects, coordinating class field trips and special class days, assisting with numerous class and school activities, and parent assistance in numerous other activities such as a pancake supper and a soup supper.
(PRESCHOOL is not currently accepting registrations)
We are a Preschool that welcomes all children and have students of many faiths and nationalities currently enrolled. St. John the Apostle is a Catholic Preschool, but children do not have to be Catholic to attend. Students do not need to be baptized. Registration begins in January.
The maximum class size for four year-olds is 15 students, and the maximum class size for three year-olds is 13 students. Each class has one teacher and one teaching assistant.
The Preschool starts in early September and ends in late May. For the rest of the year, the Preschool follows most of the Loudoun County Public Schools’ calendar.

In an effort to keep all children safe the Diocese of Arlington provides the following policies, practices and resources for compliance to the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
The health and safety of our children is of primary importance. The Preschool is a self-contained unit in the St. John the Apostle Parish Center. Children are accompanied at all times, and the teaching assistant carries an emergency backpack whenever the class leaves the classroom. If a child has an Epi-pen or inhaler, it is in the backpack at all times. Children must be toilet-trained by the start of school to ensure the safety of all children in the bathroom.
The Preschool is peanut and tree nut free. The Preschool works on an individual basis with parents of children with additional allergies such as dairy, eggs and gluten. Candy of any kind is not allowed due to allergies. All snacks must come from a snack list developed by parents of children with allergies. Snacks are provided for the class by the parents of students on a weekly rotational schedule.
(PRESCHOOL is not currently accepting registrations)
A child is eligible for the three/four year-old class if the child is three/four by September 30th of the coming school year. For 2020-2021, the child must be three/four years old by September 30, 2020.
Tours are currently on hold. To schedule an individual meeting and tour please contact the parish office after January 1st 2020. Children are welcome.
